I was in Nungwi, Zanzibar for Eid holiday. Nungwi is a village not less than 1 hour drive out of town where a number of beach hotels are situated. We stayed at the double tree resort by hilton hotel .I was there for two days, and spent both doing water sports, eating and falling asleep early to the night breeze – no better way to let loose.Once I got back, I spent the weekend recovering from all the action. That fly board kicked my butt and I still didn’t manage.
Day one we rode on jet skis from Kendwa to a nearby Island, came off to swim a little and returned to kendwa for my flyboarding experience. Any one planning on going flyboarding? I suggest you stay fit, have energy and balance thats how you will manage to fly 😛 .At some point I was left with no clothes but only a maasai shuka and thats what I had on for the most of my time there.Walking around in that wrap just felt so good.Clothes for who?lol
On the next day we went on a small speed boat to mnemba island for snorkelling. This was my first time and I was so scared to do it. At the island you are not allowed to step on the land if you are not one of the guests staying in the villas on the tiny Island. So your space is basically in the ocean,on the boat or the nearby formed sand bank which you had to swim there or still go with the boat.I got our captain to go in the water with me to gain the confidence, I did. A lot of beautiful creatures underneath I am so glad I did it and feeling grateful for the people in my life who push me to do things I fear doing. We finished it off with a huge plate of tropical fruits by the sand bank and were on our way back to the village.
Feeling so lucky to be living in such a beautiful country.I wanna travel and explore more of it and hopefully more activities will be established in different destinations to spark the experiences because just seeing is not enough.
The weather was inconsistent so lighting was not in our favour but I still managed to get some beautiful images to share with you guys.
What are you guys planning for the weekend? This weekend I am thinking of going somewhere for a cool brunch with a friend still trying to decide where because I was by the beach last (long) weekend. Any suggestions?
A lot of you have been asking for suggestions on things to do in Nungwi or in Zanzibar generally,I will definitely do a post on that and probably with a short video from this experience 🙂 .
Wishing you guys a lovely weekend and stay safe,
Joie de vivre!
