Skincare: Taming the oily skin

Skincare: Taming the oily skin

I’m constantly struggling with my face’s oily skin. Without using a few products, my face gets super oily  few minutes after leaving the house. I have now made the decision to seek a long term solution not just the everyday matte setting sprays. Ofcourse I am still going to use those if I have to but I have been on the search for something that will deal with the real problem. Calling it a problem because when you have oily skin it means your pores easily clog and it is acne prone .

The body shop tea tree products

Having used Tea tree oil from the body shop tea tree line before and after getting recommendations under one of my instagram posts I decided to get more products from the line and give them a try. It has not been long since I started using these but I can already see and feel the difference. My pores are not as open and the overall texture of my skin has changed.

These three are the products from the body shop tea tree line I am currently using:

Mattifying lotion

The body shop tea tree products

I use it during the day because of its mattifying abilities and it leaves the skin less oily  for at least 8 hours. I apply it in place of a moisturizer so it also helps with holding the oil from giving me a shinny face.

Skin clearing clay mask

This is a clay mask combined with tea tree oil. It instructs that it should be used once or twice a week. On application it leaves the skin fresher and the texture softer . Also the pores appeared to be tighter. It has cooling and mattifying properties and this is quite visible when I use it.

Tea tree Oil

I made a face mist from this oil, it is something I have been using for a while and the tea tree properties treat signs of acne. I made and use the mist to hydrate the skin instead of applying the oil directly on the affected areas as most do.

I wanted to get the toner too but it wasn’t available when I went to purchase these.

Looking forward to incorporating more tea tree oil products onto my skincare routine and share with you the full routine because I am always on the search for better products.

For those in Dar, these products are all available at @zuriihouseofbeauty, Dar free market at the price range of  40,000 to 45,000 tzs .

Happy New year loves,

One quote I live by is “Do the best or not at all” and I like to approach things I do with that kind of attitude. This for me means really putting in the work in whatever I started because why be average? When I started blogging I did not know much, I just wanted to share my experiences hoping to inspire and connect. All I knew there was was write, add photos, and publish little did I know blogging is a field of its own and a big part of digital entrepreneurship.

“We are drawn to things we are naturally good at” Jen sincero in You are a badass book

I spend the whole of 2016 staying up late night researching, reading, watching, attending webinars just anything I could land on that gave lessons on blogging and digital entrepreneurship as a whole. Sharing my experiences is one but being able to monetize it is another (the blog still serves the same purpose regardless) . I feel like I haven’t been doing enough and I have come to learn that you need to invest in whatever it is you expect to yield good results from.
Also blogging has given me a sense of freedom I have never felt, the rebellious kind of freedom. I have also learned so many life lessons I did not know I would. I guess God has a way of bringing forth whatever he wants to send our way.

“Because so often when we say we’re unqualified for something, what we are really saying is that we’re too scared to try it, not that we can’t do it.” Jen Sincero in You are a badass book

I hope everyone is able to experience what I am talking about, not necessary it comes from blogging but from that one thing you have been longing to do or that idea you got just last week. I challenge you guys to start whatever it is you wish or want to go for. Just START, this is the attitude you need to keep making moves. If you are able to start what you are scared of putting out there, you will be able to do more and go places. Let us approach 2017 with that kind of attitude and do the most. Remember change won’t come if you keep up with old habits and ways of doing things.

“Procrastination is one of the most popular forms of self sabotage because its really easy” Jen Sincero in You are a badass book

Thank you for your comments, emails, and DMs . To receive a message on how I inspire someone through what I do means so much to me. I am glad that we connect in such a way, when we are able to inspire and motivate each other even from miles away. Thank you!
wishing you an awesome 2017. Lets go do!

Big Magic book review

Doing book reviews can sometimes be hard especially when you have to summarize 276 pages to one blog post. But if there are conversations that leave me feeling really happy and inspired talking about books is definitely one of them. I get to connect with like minded people through books so its something I will definitely keep sharing.

I had different thoughts reading through this one but at the end I am motivated and brought to understand a number of things.

Big Magic book review
REVIEW:

Q: What is creativity?

A: The relationship between a human being and the mysteries of inspiration.

In this book Elizabeth Gilbert is one of those friends we all need who just pushes you to go ahead and create or work regardless. A self help book artistically written by some one with first hand experience. Being the novelist she is, she brings out her imagination but also uses other people’s stories and her own experiences to send her message making it somehow relatable.

what are you passionate enough about that you can endure the most disagreeable aspects of the work?

Divided in 6 parts namely, Courage, Enchantment, Permission, Persistence, Trust and Divinity she covers all aspect of a creative’s life. She highlights all stages of bringing something to excistence from the idea to the final product and on how to conquer all set backs along the way.

The feeling of desperation and unhappiness are more useful to an artist than the feeling of contentment, because desperation and unhappiness stretch your whole sensibility.

On one of those parts she explains about her understanding on ownership of an idea, how you can wake up one day to find some else implemented the same idea you have been procrastinating about for a long time, so logic. She says ” I believe that inspiration will always try its best to work with you — but if you are not ready or available , it may indeed choose to leave you and search for a different human collaborator” she says when this happens instead of getting angry and accusing someone else sometimes people you haven’t even met before for stealing your idea, stay positive and next time work on an idea like a maniac.

She also highlights on how as artists one of your works may raise the standard really high that you fear coming up with something else but just do it anyways because at the end of the day you have to keep creating.

Simply and wittily written makes it easy to read. This book is not solely for artists and “career creatives” but for anyone willing to conquer self doubt, fear and follow the path they wish to take.

I would recommend it to : Start up owners, aspiring and established entrepreneurs, career creatives, digital influencers, bloggers and those looking to courageously step up their game and leave fear behind.

I am also looking for books to add to my reading list, Please leave me your suggestions on the comment section below. 🙂

Leaving you with some quotes from this book, thank you for dropping by.xx

I kept working. I kept writing. I kept not getting published, but that was okay, because I was getting educated.

You might spend your whole life following your curiosity and have absolutely nothing to show for it at the end except one thing. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you passed your entire existence in devotion to the noble human virtue of inquisitiveness.

And that should be more than enough for anyone to say that they lived a rich and splendid life.
